Amy Ahrens Terpstra has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. Amy has served as the Chief Impact Officer at United Way of Salt Lake since January 2022, where she is responsible for driving social impact. During the 2026 legislative session, Amy was instrumental in ushering the passage of Utah Senate Bill 165, the “Economic Mobility Initiative.” This bill provides support for community-based partnerships aimed at improving educational and economic outcomes for Utah families.Prior to her role as Chief Impact Officer, Amy held the position of Vice President, Collective Impact Partnerships at the same organization starting in December 2018. Amy also served as the Senior Partnership Director at United Way of Salt Lake from October 2016.Earlier in her career, Amy worked at the Social IMPACT Research Center at Heartland Alliance, where she held the position of Director from June 2005 to September 2016. In this role, she conducted research and led initiatives focused on social impact.Overall, Amy has a strong background in nonprofit leadership and partnership development, with a track record of driving impactful change within organizations.Amy obtained a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Trinity Christian College, where she studied from 2000 to 2004. Amy later pursued further education and obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Illinois Chicago, studying there from 2004 to 2006.
